Practice your university interview and essays before they count.
AcceptMe is an AI coach for the parts of an application you can’t cram: a bank of your own stories, timed on-camera mock interviews, and line-by-line notes on your essays.
How it works
Three tools. Stories feed your interview answers. The essay coach stands on its own.
Build your story bank
One strong story for each of the 12 things interviewers ask about: leadership, resilience, teamwork and the rest. The coach talks you through each one and you answer out loud. From what you say, it drafts a story outline built on your words. These are what you reach for when the interview clock starts.
Run mock interviews on camera
Pick an interview, hit start, and get a fresh question, a prep window and a hard answer clock. No pausing. Every answer comes back with a transcript and the coach’s notes on what you said and how you structured it. Watch it back, read the notes, then run it again.
Get your essays marked up
Paste a draft and the essay prompt. You get a verdict paragraph and notes pinned to your sentences, each tagged as something that works, needs tightening, or has to be fixed.
Why it works
Five studies where students practiced the way you will here. Independent raters scored the difference.
- Feedback is what moves the score, not practice on its own.
-
MIT split 90 students into three groups. Only the group that practiced with an automated interviewer and then got feedback on their recording pulled ahead when a counsellor who did not know their group re-rated them. Watching tips videos, or practicing without feedback, did not.
Hoque et al., UbiComp, 2013
- Automated feedback beat a classroom session.
-
Students who practiced in a simulated interview with automated feedback were rated 0.6 standard deviations higher than students taught the same material in a classroom session. That is a medium-to-large gap, from 70 students rated blind.
Langer et al., International Journal of Selection and Assessment, 2016
- In recorded video interviews, a practice run alone changed nothing.
-
People given an unguided practice run before a recorded video interview scored no better than people given none. A short training on how to structure an answer did raise their scores. 202 people, then repeated with 156.
Roulin, Pham & Bourdage, Journal of Vocational Behavior, 2023
- Complete stories went from none to 62% after training.
-
Students wrote one interview answer a week for four weeks. Before a storytelling training in week three, not one answer was a complete story. After it, 62% were. 21 students, all under 25.
Lin-Stephens et al., Education + Training, 2022
- AI notes on a draft made the next draft better.
-
In a randomised trial of 144 university students, those given AI feedback on their own draft wrote better revisions than those who revised without it, after allowing for how good the first draft was.
Glüsing et al., Contemporary Educational Psychology, 2026

Questions people ask before signing up
- Which interview formats does this prepare me for?
- Timed video interviews: you see a question, get a short prep window, then a fixed time to answer on camera. Timed written answers too. Many competitive programs use this format, and custom interviews let you set the prep and answer windows to match yours.
- Is the coach a real person?
- No. The coach is AI. It asks you questions to draw out a story, and it marks up your essays. It never writes a word for you, and it never rewrites yours.
- I don’t have an interview. Is this still useful?
- Yes. The Story Bank is worth building for any application that asks about you, and the Essay Coach works on any supplemental essay or personal statement.
- Who can see my recordings?
- Only you. Recordings and essays are private to your account.
- What does it cost?
- Three Story Bank topics (Leadership, Teamwork and Resilience), 2 interview runs and 2 essay reviews are free. After that, full access is C$49 a month and unlocks everything, including the other nine topics. Cancel any time and you keep access until the end of the month you've paid for. Or pay C$79 once for a season pass: full access until March 31, 2027, and it never renews.
Nothing in the real interview should be the first time you’ve seen it.
