Hi, I’m Callum.
AcceptMe is just me. I build every part of it, from the interview room to the guides, and when you email hello@acceptme.io, I’m the one who reads it.
Why I built this
I started AcceptMe right after I finished my own university applications. The video interviews and the essays took me a huge amount of effort, and the results weren’t what I needed.
The problem wasn’t that I didn’t know what to do. Every guide told me. The problem was that I couldn’t do it enough. To practice a video interview, I’d find a list of questions, hide one from myself, start a timer for the prep time, turn on my webcam the second it ran out, and start a second timer for the answer. Then I had a video of myself and nobody to tell me whether it was any good. Essays were the same: if I was lucky, someone read one draft, once.
So I built what I wanted that year: a place to do the reps, as many as you need, and find out after each one what to change.
What I believe
Reps beat advice. Reading about interviews and essays only gets you so far. You get good by doing it over and over, with feedback every time. Each rep is a little better, and after enough of them you’re ahead of everyone who read the same tips and tried it three times.
Your words should stay yours. AcceptMe never writes your answers or rewrites your essay. It asks questions, points out what’s working and what isn’t, and leaves the writing to you.
Good prep shouldn’t depend on money. A consultant can cost thousands. I want the student who can’t afford one to get the same practice as the one who can.
Say hello
The longer version of the story, including why every way of preparing I tried missed the same thing, is in why I built AcceptMe. And if you have a question, an idea, or something on the site isn’t working, email me at hello@acceptme.io.
