Future Reach Education Markham: Review and Alternative

Future Reach Education is the Markham admissions consultancy run by Imbert Fung, an MIT and UPenn alumnus, that fills York Region library rooms with free seminars every autumn and names the Canadian programs, Waterloo Engineering, Ivey, Queen’s Commerce, iBioMed, that Markham and Richmond Hill students actually apply to. If you are searching for them, you have probably sat through a seminar or booked the free consultation and want to know what the paid service costs and covers. This is what Future Reach offers, what is and is not public about its prices, what an interview simulation with a person can and cannot do for a Kira interview, and what a C$49-a-month practice tool adds.

What Future Reach Education is

Future Reach Education operates from 169 Enterprise Boulevard in Markham. Its founder, Imbert Fung, holds a BSE and an MS from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from MIT, worked at Apple, Expedia and McKinsey, serves as a UPenn alumni interviewer, and is a member of HECA, the Higher Education Consultants Association. The founding year and the size of the team are not stated on the site.

What sets Future Reach apart from the US-facing consultancies in Toronto is that its Canadian page names the programs: Waterloo Engineering, Ivey HBA, McMaster iBioMed, Queen’s Commerce, Rotman Commerce, U of T Engineering Science and McGill Desautels. The university admissions page lists the services around that:

  • Planning and applications: course selection, essays, coaching for the Canadian competitive programs and for Ivy League and other US universities, plus MBA admissions.
  • Interviews: “admissions interview preparation and simulation.”
  • Timed components: “preparation for timed supplemental requirements.”

Those last two lines are why this page exists. Future Reach is one of a small number of Ontario consultancies that acknowledge the timed, recorded parts of a Canadian application at all. Neither line names Kira Talent, the platform behind Ivey, Queen’s Commerce, Rotman and iBioMed, and neither says what a simulation consists of, so ask at the consultation. Delivery is one-to-one. Alongside the paid service the company runs free public seminars at Richmond Hill, Markham and Aurora public libraries, seven dates between September and November 2026, and its testimonials page carries twenty-three client accounts, fourteen about US admissions and nine about Canadian.

What Future Reach Education costs

Not published. Nothing on futurereach.ca carries a price (checked 10 September 2026); the way in is a free consultation and the figure arrives after it. We have found no press report of Future Reach’s rates either. For what GTA consultants charge in general, the consultant cost guide collects every published and reported figure, including the flat rates and hourly bands reported for comparable Toronto firms.

AcceptMe, with unlimited timed on-camera interview practice plus the essay coach and the Story Bank, is C$49 a month, cancel any time, with a free tier that needs no card. The price is on the page before you book anything.

What a simulation with a person can and cannot do

An interview simulation with a consultant who has interviewed for UPenn is worth having, and it is worth it for the judgement: whether your story is the right story, whether your answer to “why this program” would convince someone who has read a thousand of them, what an Ivey reader is actually listening for.

What a simulation with a person cannot be is the exam. Ivey’s Kira interview is five questions in one sitting with no retakes. Queen’s Commerce gives you two minutes to prepare and two to answer, plus a ten-minute written response. iBioMed gives you ten seconds to read the question and two minutes on camera. Waterloo Engineering’s video interview gives you under a minute to think. In every one of those the thing on the other side is a camera and a countdown, and a person in a room reacts in ways a camera does not: they nod, they soften a hard question, they prompt when you stall. The rehearsal is not the exam. And an hour buys a handful of full-length attempts, when the skill is built over dozens. In the studies on our research page, an unguided practice run before a recorded interview changed nothing, tips videos changed nothing, and the one group that improved was the one that practiced with an automated interviewer and then read feedback on its own recording. The simulation tells you what to fix. The reps are where it gets fixed.

Where a person who has sat on the panel still wins

Two things Future Reach can do that AcceptMe cannot: read your tone and presence in the room, and give you judgement on programs, courses and how to apply, including a US or Ivy League application, which someone who interviews for UPenn understands from the inside. The free seminars are a genuinely good thing: a York Region family can hear the whole landscape explained without paying a cent. What a consultant cannot sell is reps, and the skill a Kira interview tests is built by doing it many times with feedback each time. Where we would push back on any consultancy is essay help that ends up rewriting a student’s sentences: that is putting words in your mouth, and a paragraph in an adult’s voice is the easiest thing for a reader to spot. The founder’s account of why we built AcceptMe is the argument in full.

Who should hire Future Reach Education

  • York Region families who want one in-person consultant across course selection, the school list and the essays, from Grade 10 or 11 onward, and who have already met him at a library seminar.
  • Students with a serious US list, where a UPenn and MIT alumnus who interviews for UPenn is the scarce thing.
  • Anyone whose main need is strategy rather than practice: which of Waterloo, Ivey, Queen’s or Rotman to lead with, how to sequence a Grade 12 year, whether an MBA route makes sense later.

Who should use AcceptMe instead, or as well

  • Students whose applications include a Kira video, a timed written answer or a supplementary essay, at any school in any country, who know where they are applying and need to get good at the assessment itself.
  • Families who want the price before the conversation, or who came away from the seminar knowing what to do and needing somewhere to do it.
  • Clients of Future Reach who want to arrive at each paid hour having already recorded and reviewed their answers, so the hour goes on judgement rather than on rehearsal.

Start with the program you are aiming at. The Waterloo Engineering AIF and video interview guide covers the one-question video and the written AIF, and the Ivey AEO video interview guide walks through the five-question Kira sitting with practice questions you can record tonight. The hub of Ontario supplementary applications has a row for every program Future Reach names. The Canadian admissions coaching comparison lines up every consultancy and tool we have reviewed, with Youthfully the closest national comparison. Alpha Admissions is the other firm built around Queen’s Commerce and Ivey, and the consultants-by-city guide lists every Toronto-area option. And AcceptMe is where the reps happen, for free, before you book anyone’s hour.
