Admissions Avenue Review (Toronto): Costs and an Alternative

Admissions Avenue is a small Toronto coaching firm, run virtually by a Harvard graduate and a recent Ivey HBA, that sells the whole application: extracurricular strategy, essays it says it never ghostwrites, the school list, and video interview preparation for timed, recorded interviews. If you are searching for them you have probably seen them on page one for “university application coach Canada” and want to know what they cost and whether the small-on-purpose model fits you. This is what they offer, what is public about the price, and what an hour with a coach can and cannot do for a recorded interview.

What Admissions Avenue is

Admissions Avenue is led by two coaches: Connor Bitter, founder and lead coach, with a BA from Harvard and an MSc from ETH Zurich, and Evelyn Zheng, lead coach and head of Canadian admissions, an Ivey HBA graduate of 2022 and a Team Canada fencer. The firm is based in Toronto and works entirely online, so it takes students from anywhere in Canada. A founding year is not stated. The about page makes a point of size: “0 salespeople,” two named coaches, and a stated preference for staying small.

The services cover the full application rather than one piece of it:

  • Strategy: extracurricular planning from Grade 9 onward, the university list, scholarships, and athletic recruitment for NCAA and U Sports.
  • Essays and supplementaries, which the site says are “never ghostwritten,” with what it calls limited use of generative AI.
  • Video interview preparation “for timed, recorded interviews at competitive programs.”

The targets are the competitive Canadian business, engineering and computer science programs, with a program page for Ivey AEO as an example, plus the US Ivy-plus group. You do not book a call; you apply by form and the firm decides whether to take you.

What Admissions Avenue costs

The price is not published (checked 8 September 2026). The FAQ describes three shapes of engagement without a figure on any of them: flexible hourly support on pre-purchased hours, which the site calls its most popular option and pitches at Grades 9 to 11; a fixed-price Grade 12 package; and a comprehensive multi-year package for students starting in Grade 10 or 11. Payments can be staged and there are discounts for committing early. Nobody has reported a number in the press, so we will not guess one. Expect to find out after the form.

Two things on that site deserve credit. The FAQ refuses to guarantee admission and says the firm would be suspicious of anyone who does, which is exactly right. And the no-ghostwriting line is the same stance we take: a reader can hear a borrowed voice, and it is your voice they are scoring. Against that, the headline claims, more than 95% of clients admitted to one or more of their target schools and more than 99% client satisfaction, come with no published methodology and no off-site reviews to check them against; there are about three testimonials on the site. A firm that chooses which students to take by application form will, all else equal, admit a high share of them. Read the 95% as a selection effect until the method is published, not as a false claim.

AcceptMe, with unlimited timed on-camera interview practice plus the essay coach and the Story Bank, is C$49 a month with the price on the page, and you cancel the month you submit. Two interview runs, three Story Bank topics and two essay reviews are free with no card.

What an hour with a coach can and cannot do for a recorded interview

A good coach earns the fee on judgement: which programs belong on the list, whether a Grade 10 extracurricular plan is coherent, whether an essay topic is a mistake, what a US application actually wants. Admissions Avenue sells all of that, and a Harvard graduate and an Ivey HBA who sat these applications recently are credible people to buy it from.

A timed, recorded interview is a different kind of problem. Ivey runs five Kira questions in one sitting with no retakes; Queen’s Commerce gives you two minutes to prepare and two to answer, one take. When a coach runs a mock with you, a person is on the other side: they nod, they soften when you lose your place, they prompt you when you stall. The camera does none of that. So the rehearsal is a conversation and the exam is not, and the skill that gets tested, a structured and specific answer on the first take under a clock, is built the way any performance skill is built: by doing it, watching the recording, and doing it again, more times than any hourly package can contain.

The studies on our research page are unusually clear. An unguided practice run before a recorded interview changed nothing, tips videos changed nothing, and the group that improved was the one that practiced with an automated interviewer and then read feedback on its own recording. A coach can tell you what a good answer sounds like. Only reps make yours sound like that.

Where two coaches beat a tool

A coach who sat Ivey’s own application three years ago, or who went through Harvard’s, can do two things AcceptMe cannot: read your tone and presence live, and give you judgement on programs, courses, extracurriculars and how a US application works. We are honest about both, and we like that Admissions Avenue draws the same line on essays that we do: coach the student, do not put words in their mouth. What a coach cannot sell is reps, and the skill a recorded interview tests is built by recording, reviewing and recording again, many more times than a package of hours allows. The founder’s account of why we built AcceptMe is the argument in full.

Who should hire Admissions Avenue

  • A Grade 9 to 11 student whose family wants one accountable coach across several years: extracurricular planning, course choices and the school list, with essays coached rather than written.
  • A student applying to both Canadian programs and US Ivy-plus schools who needs someone who has done the US side personally.
  • An athlete weighing NCAA or U Sports recruitment alongside admissions, which few Canadian firms cover.

Who should use AcceptMe instead, or as well

  • Students whose applications include a timed video interview, a timed written answer or a supplementary essay, at any school in any country, who know where they are applying and need to get good at the assessment itself.
  • Families who want to see the price before they fill in a form, or for whom hourly coaching is out of reach.
  • Clients of Admissions Avenue who want to arrive at each paid hour having already recorded and reviewed their answers, so the hour goes on judgement rather than on rehearsal.

If Ivey is on your list, start with the Ivey AEO video interview guide and the companion on how to answer the Ivey AEO essays. How to practice for a video interview is the method behind everything on this page. The comparison of Canadian admissions coaching lines Admissions Avenue up against the other firms, and the admissions consultant cost guide has every published and reported price in one place. VerveSmith is the other Toronto practice built around an ex-admissions officer, and the consultants-by-city guide lists every firm in the region with what is public. Then open AcceptMe and record your first timed answer before you fill in anyone’s form.
